Data by state

  • Useful when looking for data for an individual state, like Illinois

  • On the left/middle side of the profile page is the featured indicators and featured data sections

  • The featured data section displays one of the featured indicators and a visual map of individual counties.
    • Example: the featured data for Illinois is "Child Poverty" and moving your  mouse over the map shows you the percentage of child poverty for each county.

  • On the right/middle side of the "profile page" you can search for indicators by: featured indicators, all indicators, and by category.
  • The "view community-level profiles" will bring up available county-level data.

  • Clicking on an indicator will pull up that indicator's data page.
    • Example: Click on "child care assistance program participation." The indicator page will have three tabs at the top: 123 Ranking, Map, and Line Graph. The 123 rankings tab will show you the indicator data for the state and/or counties and allows you to sort by year, data, and participation/recipient type; the map will show you county-level data (if it's available); the line graph will create a line graph that you can sort by region, year, and participation/recipient; and all three tabs show you a description, source, and footnotes for that particular indicator.
